US Flag

I took my grandson Evan to see the now grounded Endeavor shuttle the other day.  As we went into the hangar that is now its home, he asked me why the flag on the side we were looking at was "the wrong way around."

Now I thought I had managed to convince him that I knew everything there was to know, but this one stumped me and I had to go and ask a nearby docent, who was nearly as old as me.  He told me that in the US any flying object - and this included every plane in the US Air force - had flags that always faced away from the wind direction.  Therefore a flag on the starboard side would have the blue and white stars towards the nose.  You can learn something every day!

  2. Woah! I'm really digging the template/theme of this blog. It's
simple, yet effective. A lot of times it's very difficult to get that "perfect balance" between user friendliness and appearance. I must say that you've done a awesome job with this.

Additionally, the blog loads very quick for me on Opera.
    Outstanding Blog!
