Trains Part One
I recently went into the engine driver's compartment of a huge Canadian Pacific steam train. I'd never been in one before that I could recall. A few weeks before I had sat at a simulator of a modern diesel train and it was not the same at all. It made me realise how lucky I've been to have lived through some of the age of steam before it all went away. The sheer power of these massive yet comparatively simple machines was amazing, and I know that in some parts of the world they still operate. Also a few enthusiasts keep them running in the UK. Or where would the cast of Downton Abbey go for their period travels?
